Over the last two months, we (Roberto, Harvey and Jack from the University of Chichester) have been working within the lovely community of Stedham Primary School on an outdoor interactive area at the back of the school. We have been working closely alongside the school to create an area which is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also an area in which the pupils of Stedham Primary School can use as an outdoor educational area to enhance the learning experience. Through many discussions with the school and with the help of Mrs Helas, we have decided to build an allotment and seating area for the children to use and enjoy. This enables all pupils to grow an array of delicious ingredients within a stimulating outdoor environment which will assist with the children’s learning, as well as providing knowledge of the outdoor environment. The work we have done so far includes painting the shed to be more stimulating to the children, building the pergola for the outside seating area and positioning sleepers to use later for raised flower beds to surround the area. We look forward to continuing this hard work and to create an outdoor space which promotes the love for outdoor learning.
