Classes & Curriculum
Classes
At Stedham we are immensely proud of being a village school. With a small number of children in each class, we are able to cater for every individual need of every individual child that steps through our doors. Stedham Primary School has 3 classes, named after the three most common animals that live in the woods surrounding our school.
The class structure for the academic year 2025/26 is as follows:
Rabbits – Reception & Year 1
Hedgehogs - Year 2 and 4
Foxes – Year 5 and 6
Curriculum Intent
At Stedham Primary School, our foundation curriculum is underpinned by our mission, “Equipping today; empowering tomorrow,” and by our values of Consideration, Courtesy, Challenge, Commitment, Collaboration and Creativity. Drawing on the principles of the Primary Knowledge Curriculum, we provide a broad, ambitious and carefully sequenced curriculum that enables pupils to build secure substantive and disciplinary knowledge over time. Through high-quality planning, explicit vocabulary teaching, meaningful enrichment and clear progression across our two-year cycle, children develop curiosity, confidence and a deepening understanding of the world. As a result, pupils know more, remember more and are well prepared for the next stage of their education and for life beyond Stedham.
Our curriculum is planned across a 2-year cycle and is split up into six topics per academic year. These topics are shared across the whole school, meaning that children of all ages are, at times, able to collaborate and work together with each other.
