Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium is a special funding initiative which targets additional funds to the school for the benefit of children from low-income or disadvantaged families who are currently known to be eligible for Free School Meals (FSM). This applies to families in both mainstream and non-mainstream settings and children who have been looked after continuously for more than 6 months. The reason for this support is because research has shown that disadvantaged children across the UK are significantly less likely to reach the expected levels at 5, 7 and 11.
Schools may spend the Pupil Premium in many ways to support pupils from low income families, pupils adopted from care and service children. Schools are held accountable and must report on how the funding has been used to support this group of children. From September 2012, we have been required to publish online information about how we have used the Premium so that all interested parties can see the attainment of pupils receiving this support and know what additional support they are receiving.
Each year the school receives funding according to the number of children at the school who are Pupil Premium. This funding is spent on providing enhanced provision to further accelerate vulnerable pupils' learning. The pupil premium in our school is also used to buy additional resources for these children, and to provide financial support for these families for school trips and some extra-curricular activities to ensure that they are not disadvantaged in any way.

Pupil Premium Grant, also known as PPG, is funding payable to schools for two policies:

raising the attainment of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities to reach their potential
- supporting children and young people with parents in the regular armed forces
